Vanessa Nakate

Vanessa Nakate is a Ugandan climate activist who has gained prominence for her work in advocating for environmental justice and highlighting the impacts of climate change in Africa. She is the founder of the Rise Up movement, which aims to empower climate activists across the continent. Nakate's activism gained international attention after she was cropped out of a photograph with other young activists at the World Economic Forum in Davos, leading her to confront issues of representation and the disproportionate effects of climate change on African communities.
