Vang Guazhun
Vang Guazhun is a Chinese national who became one of the first known citizens from China to be captured while fighting for the Russian army against Ukraine. Born in 1991, he had been searching for work when he encountered an advertisement on TikTok promising substantial financial rewards for joining the Russian military. After losing his job, Vang decided to enlist, drawn by the prospect of earning a monthly salary significantly higher than the average in China. However, his experience turned into a nightmare, as he described being subjected to harsh conditions and deception regarding the promises made to him. Captured by Ukrainian forces, Vang shared his harrowing story of disillusionment with the realities of war and expressed regret about participating in the conflict.
