Victor Serge
Victor Serge was a Russian-born Belgian writer and revolutionary who played a significant role in the early 20th-century socialist movements. Born in 1890, he became involved in anarchist politics as a young man and later aligned himself with the Bolshevik cause after the Russian Revolution. However, as Stalin's regime became more repressive, Serge found himself increasingly at odds with the party and was eventually imprisoned and exiled. He spent much of his life in France and Mexico, where he continued to write about his experiences and critique totalitarianism. His notable works include novels, essays, and autobiographical writings that explore the complexities of revolutionary ideals and human experience. Serge's life was marked by profound political upheaval and personal struggle, culminating in his death in 1947.
