Viorel Ursu

Viorel Ursu is a seasoned diplomat and expert in European affairs, currently serving as the Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to the United States and Mexico. With over two decades of experience in international relations, democratic governance, and European Union expansion, he has played a crucial role in strengthening Moldova's diplomatic ties. Prior to his ambassadorship, Ursu held significant positions, including Director of the Europe Department at the Open Society Foundation in London and senior political analyst at the Open Society European Policy Institute in Brussels. He began his career at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and has also lectured on international law and human rights at the State University of Moldova. Ursu is a graduate of the College of Europe in Poland and holds a law degree from the State University of Moldova. Recently, he was nominated to become the Ambassador of Moldova to Sweden, reflecting his commitment to enhancing Moldova's diplomatic efforts.
