Vyacheslav Malets
Vyacheslav Malets, an 18-year-old Ukrainian recruit, defied his parents and traveled from Germany to fight for his homeland, becoming the first recruit of a new military program aimed at young volunteers. He was awarded by President Volodymyr Zelensky for his service on the front lines, but tragically lost his life in October after stepping on a landmine near Pokrovsk.
