Willem Mengelberg

Willem Mengelberg was a Dutch conductor who served as the chief conductor of the Concertgebouw Orchestra from 1895 to 1945. He is credited with establishing a strong tradition of performing Gustav Mahler's works in Amsterdam and played a significant role in the composer's connection to the city.
