Xu Bochun
Xu Bochun is a 39-year-old Chinese man who was a victim of human trafficking and cyber scam syndicates in Myanmar. In June 2023, he was lured by a fake job offer for a film role, only to be kidnapped and held captive for three months in a hotel in Kokang, Myanmar. During his captivity, he was forced to participate in online scams, making fake profiles to defraud unsuspecting individuals. Xu's harrowing experience included daily beatings and witnessing violence against fellow captives. His family ultimately paid a nearly million yuan ransom for his release. Xu now works sporadically in the film industry and as a tour guide, striving to repay his family for their sacrifices and raise awareness about human trafficking.
