Yuri A. Dmitriev

Yuri A. Dmitriev is a Russian historian and activist who gained recognition for uncovering mass graves of victims of Stalin's purges in northern Russia. Despite his significant contributions to historical research and human rights, he was sentenced to 15 years in prison in 2021 on charges widely considered to be fabricated, which his supporters believe were politically motivated.
