
Zhang Shourong
Zhang Shourong was a renowned Chinese metallurgical expert and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. Born on February 17, 1928, in Ding County, Hebei, he dedicated over six decades to the steel industry, mainly working at Ansteel and Wuhan Iron and Steel Corporation (WISCO). He played a pivotal role in advancements in metallurgy, particularly in iron production technology and blast furnace design, significantly contributing to the development of high-quality steel production in China. Zhang was honored with numerous accolades throughout his career, including the National Labor Day Medal and the National Science and Technology Progress Special Prize. He passed away on July 14, 2024, at the age of 96.
