Zhang Xue is a talented young embroiderer from Suzhou, China, known for his innovative approach to traditional Suzhou embroidery (Su Xiu). As a fourth-generation embroiderer, he has been deeply influenced by his family heritage, particularly his mother, Xue Jindi, a master craftsman and representative inheritor of Su Xiu. Zhang seeks to modernize this art form by incorporating minimalist aesthetics and contemporary design elements, making it appealing to younger audiences. His notable works include the award-winning piece 'Starry Sky' and the world's first dynamic embroidery, 'Magnolia Blooming,' created in collaboration with Tsinghua University's Future Laboratory. Through his efforts, Zhang aims to revive interest in Su Xiu and integrate it into modern life.
