Alex Mendur was an influential Indonesian photographer who, alongside his brother Frans, documented pivotal events during Indonesia's fight for independence. Serving as a photographer for the Japanese news agency Domei, he captured iconic images of the proclamation of independence on August 17, 1945. Together with Frans, he co-founded the Indonesian Press Photo Service (IPPHOS), significantly contributing to the visual narrative of Indonesia's historical journey.
