Anyelo Sarabia
Anyelo Sarabia is a Venezuelan migrant who recently endured a harrowing experience in El Salvador's maximum-security prison, known as the Centro de Confinamiento del Terrorismo (Cecot). After traveling through the Darién jungle and arriving in the U.S. in 2023, he was detained during a migration appointment and subsequently sent to Cecot, where he faced severe mistreatment and abuse. Following months of protests for the release of Venezuelan detainees, Sarabia was finally returned to Venezuela on July 18, 2023, and has since expressed a determination not to emigrate again.
