Aviaja Fontain

Aviaja Fontain is the daughter of Hedvig Frederiksen and has been an advocate for raising awareness about the historical injustices faced by the Inuit people of Greenland under Danish colonial rule. She has actively supported her mother in seeking justice for the victims of the 'spiral campaign,' a government initiative that forcibly sterilized young Inuit girls without their consent. Aviaja's determination to confront the painful past and her refusal to learn Danish, opting instead to teach her children English, symbolize a broader movement among the younger generation of Greenlanders to reclaim their identity and challenge the legacy of colonialism.
