Baek is a 21-year-old North Korean infantryman who was recently captured while serving in Russia's military support for the conflict in Ukraine. He is reported to be a member of North Korea's intelligence agency and has acknowledged that the supply for his unit was adequate despite the significant casualties they faced. Unlike some of his comrades, Baek expressed a desire to return to North Korea after completing his military service, hoping to pursue further studies and establish a business.
