Barbara Massing
Barbara Massing has been appointed as the new Intendantin of Deutsche Welle (DW), succeeding Peter Limbourg. Born in 1971, she studied law and history and has been with DW since 2006, previously working at Arte Deutschland. Massing has held various roles within DW, including serving as Administrative Director since 2014. Her election was marked by some controversy, as concerns were raised about her lack of journalistic experience and foreign exposure, yet her extensive administrative background was seen as a strength for guiding the organization through challenges such as misinformation and the digital transformation of media.
