Bayezid II

Bayezid II was the Ottoman Sultan from 1481 to 1512, known for his efforts to consolidate and expand the empire, as well as for his promotion of cultural and intellectual development. He is particularly remembered for his compassionate policies towards Jews fleeing the Spanish Inquisition, offering them refuge in the Ottoman Empire, which contributed to the growth of Jewish communities in the region.
