Brett Matsumoto

Brett Matsumoto is a seasoned economist with extensive experience at the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), currently on leave to serve at the White House Council of Economic Advisers. He holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Recently, he was nominated by former President Donald Trump to lead the BLS, following the dismissal of the previous commissioner, Erika McEntarfer, amid controversies regarding employment data accuracy.
