
Chettur Sankaran Nair
Chettur Sankaran Nair (1857–1934) was a notable Indian lawyer, judge, and statesman, renowned for his courageous stance against British colonial rule, particularly in the aftermath of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre in 1919. Born in Kerala, he became the first Indian member of the Viceroy's Executive Council but resigned in protest against the massacre, which claimed the lives of over a thousand unarmed Indians. His legal battle against the British Empire for justice has been recognized as a significant contribution to India's struggle for independence, and he is celebrated for his efforts to raise awareness about the atrocities committed during that period.
