Doug Clark

Doug Clark is the former executive director of the Patented Medicine Prices Review Board (PMPRB) in Canada, where he served for a decade until 2023. He has been vocal about the need for reform within Canada's complex drug regulation system, advocating for streamlined processes to reduce the approval times for new pharmaceuticals, which he argues are some of the longest in the developed world. Clark has criticized the existing system as fragmented and cumbersome, calling for parallel evaluations of drug safety and pricing to expedite access to medications for Canadians. After leaving the PMPRB, he briefly took on the role of chief executive officer of the pan-Canadian Pharmaceutical Alliance (pCPA) before retiring from public service.
