Emanuele Basile

Emanuele Basile was an Italian Carabinieri captain who became a victim of mafia violence on May 4, 1980, in Monreale, Sicily. He was assassinated while attending a local festival, holding his four-year-old daughter in his arms, making his murder a poignant symbol of the brutality of the mafia during a violent period in Sicily's history. His death marked one of many targeted killings aimed at law enforcement and political figures by organized crime in the region.
