George Villiers

George Villiers, 1st Duke of Buckingham (1592–1628), was a prominent English courtier and politician during the reign of King James I. He rose rapidly in favor at court due to his charm and good looks, becoming the king's closest confidant. Villiers played a significant role in the political landscape of early 17th-century England, influencing royal policy and court intrigues, but his life ended in tragedy when he was assassinated in 1628.
