Carlos I
Carlos I, also known as Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor, was a prominent European monarch in the 16th century, ruling over vast territories, including Spain and the Holy Roman Empire. His reign was marked by significant political and religious turmoil, including the Protestant Reformation. Carlos I issued the Real Cédula in 1551, which established the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos in Lima, Peru, as the first university in the Americas, a claim that has sparked historical debate.
