Gugu

Gugu, a 54-year-old project coordinator for an NGO, is a former sex worker living with HIV in South Africa. After being diagnosed with the virus, she has dedicated her life to helping other HIV-positive individuals, particularly pregnant sex workers, ensure they receive their antiretroviral treatments. With recent cuts to US foreign aid jeopardizing access to essential healthcare services, Gugu faces uncertainty regarding her own treatment while advocating for vulnerable populations.
