Igor Alves, a 28-year-old pilot, gained media attention after he was found alive five days after his plane went missing in the Amazon rainforest while flying over the Yanomami Indigenous Territory. His disappearance, which occurred on March 31, prompted extensive search efforts by the Brazilian Air Force, leading to the discovery of his wrecked aircraft. Ultimately, he was located by a group of garimpeiros (gold miners) near a river, where he had reportedly been surviving on limited resources before returning home.
