Igor Sikorsky

Igor Sikorsky was a pioneering aviation engineer and inventor, best known for designing and building the first successful helicopter in the United States. Born in Ukraine in 1889, Sikorsky's early innovations in aviation began in Russia, but he fled to the U.S. after the Russian Revolution. In 1939, he founded Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation, where he developed the VS-300, the first practical helicopter, which revolutionized air transport and military operations.
