Iosif Sharleman was a notable architect of the early 19th century, credited with the design of various prison buildings across Russia, including those in Kharkiv and Nizhny Novgorod. His architectural style was influenced by neoclassicism, and he is believed to have been the true architect behind the Pishalovsky Castle in Minsk.
