Luigi Ruska was a prominent architect in St. Petersburg during the late 18th and early 19th centuries, known for his influential works and his role as a mentor to other architects, including Iosif Sharleman. His architectural projects laid the groundwork for many governmental buildings, including prisons, in the Russian Empire.
