Ismael Olvera

Ismael Olvera is a Mexican survivor who has faced a lifetime of addiction and hardship along the U.S.-Mexico border. Having begun his journey with drugs at a young age, he has battled the impacts of heroin and, more recently, fentanyl. His experiences encompass near-death encounters, including a gunshot wound that spared his life, and a struggle for survival amidst the ongoing opioid crisis. Olvera represents the forgotten individuals in the drug war narrative, often overlooked by policymakers and statistics.
