Iwan Adam

Iwan Adam, 32, is a fisherman in Halmahera, Indonesia, whose livelihood has been severely impacted by industrial pollution from nearby nickel processing facilities. Once able to catch ample fish close to shore, he now must venture much farther without much success. Facing the realities of environmental degradation, he contemplates taking a job in the nickel industry, despite the dangers, as he struggles to provide for his two daughters and cope with rising living costs.
