Safwan Tahun

Safwan Tahun, 34, is a laborer at a nickel smelting facility in Weda Bay, Indonesia. He works long night shifts to support his family, sending most of his earnings back home to his wife and seven-year-old daughter in Sulawesi. Despite the challenges of loneliness and the harsh working conditions, he remains proud of his role in contributing to Indonesia's industrial transformation, although he acknowledges the risks involved and the difficult living conditions.
