Papa Ngigoro

Papa Ngigoro, a 64-year-old member of the isolated Hongana Manyawa tribe, has lived in harmony with the forests of Halmahera, Indonesia, for most of his life. He grew up without contact with the outside world, knowing only the jungle that provided for him and his community. Recently, he has been in the news as a visible figure amidst the encroaching nickel mining activities threatening his ancestral lands, leading efforts to protect his people's way of life.
