Jan Swillens

Jan Swillens serves as the director of the Military Intelligence and Security Service (MIVD) of the Netherlands. In his role, he is responsible for providing military intelligence assessments to the Dutch government and military. Swillens was involved in the evaluations leading up to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, where the MIVD's analysis faced scrutiny for underestimating the likelihood of conflict despite contrary warnings from allied intelligence agencies.
