José Daniel Simancas is a 30-year-old construction worker from Venezuela who emigrated to the United States in hopes of providing financial support for his children. After crossing the border irregularly, he surrendered to the Border Patrol in May 2024. His family maintains that he has no criminal record and has been unjustly labeled as a criminal associated with the Tren de Aragua gang due to his tattoos.
