Katia Bonté

Katia Bonté is the coordinator of Grupo de Apoyo a los Repatriados y Refugiados (GARR), an NGO focused on the rights of migrants in the Dominican Republic and Haiti. She has been vocal about the dangers faced by Haitian migrants, particularly pregnant women, who are often afraid to seek medical care in the Dominican Republic due to fears of deportation. Bonté has highlighted the violation of bilateral protocols regarding repatriation and the dire circumstances in which many deported individuals find themselves, exacerbated by violence and instability in Haiti.
