Lidia Gueiler

Lidia Gueiler was a prominent Bolivian politician and the first woman to serve as the President of the National Congress in Bolivia. She briefly assumed the presidency in 1980 during a period of political turmoil and was known for her efforts to promote social justice and democracy. Gueiler faced significant challenges during her short tenure, including military opposition and the violent coup led by General García Meza, which ultimately led to her ousting.
