Margaret Heckler

Margaret Heckler was a prominent American politician and the first female U.S. ambassador to Ireland, serving from 1985 during the Reagan administration. A daughter of Irish immigrants, she represented Massachusetts in the House of Representatives for 16 years, where she championed key legislation such as the Equal Credit Opportunity Act and was a co-founder of the Congressional Women’s Caucus.
