María Eugenia Grillet is a distinguished Venezuelan scientist specializing in ecology and epidemiology, particularly regarding insect-borne diseases. She was born in Caracas, where she developed a passion for science and social issues. María Eugenia met her husband, Carlos Ayala, in Venezuela, and together they have navigated both their personal and professional lives across cultural lines. After decades of living and thriving in Venezuela, they recently moved to Colombia to restart their lives amidst the challenges posed by the Venezuelan crisis, while continuing their contributions to science.
