Marina Vasilevskaya
Marina Vasilevskaya, a 34-year-old Belarusian, gained international attention when she became the first citizen of sovereign Belarus to travel to space, spending 12 days aboard the International Space Station in March 2024. Initially celebrated as a pioneer in her country, her status was later clarified as that of a space tourist rather than a professional cosmonaut. Vasilevskaya has a background in aviation, having worked as a flight attendant for Belavia, and is currently involved in humanitarian efforts through the Belarusian Peace Foundation, where she focuses on promoting peace and understanding among youth.
