Generalmajor Michail Gudkow was a prominent Russian military officer who recently served as the Deputy Commander of the Russian Navy, overseeing marine infantry and coastal artillery units. He was appointed to this role by President Vladimir Putin in March 2023, following his leadership of the 155th Marine Brigade. Gudkow was killed in a Ukrainian missile strike in the Kursk region, making him one of the highest-ranking Russian military officials to have died since the onset of the war in Ukraine in 2022.
