Mihrace Hari Singh was the last ruling Maharaja of the princely state of Jammu and Kashmir, whose controversial decision to accede to India in 1947 ignited a prolonged conflict between India and Pakistan over the region. His rule ended with his departure from Kashmir amid rising tensions and military intervention by India.
