
Naji Benxasin
Naji Benxasin has been appointed as the new regional director for Central Asia at the World Bank, overseeing operations in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan from the bank's office in Tashkent. He succeeds Tatyana Proskuryakova, who held the position from July 2021 to June 2025. With a career at the World Bank beginning in 2001, Benxasin has held various leadership roles, including directing the bank's office in Pakistan and managing global practices in finance, competitiveness, and innovation. He holds advanced degrees from prestigious institutions, including a PhD in economics from MIT, and is fluent in Arabic, French, and English.
