Nelia Kukovalska

Nelia Kukovalska is the general director of the Saint Sophia of Kyiv National Preserve, a historical and cultural state institution. She is currently overseeing the restoration of St. Sophia Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that was damaged by Russian missile strikes in June 2023. Under her leadership, museum experts are employing advanced techniques such as chemical analysis and 3-D scanning to assess and restore the cathedral's damaged cornice, emphasizing the importance of preserving Ukraine's cultural heritage amidst ongoing conflict.
