Neri José Alvarado

Neri José Alvarado is a Venezuelan asylum seeker who crossed illegally into the United States in April 2024 after fleeing his country's economic collapse. He worked in a bakery in Dallas, Texas, sending money home to support his family, particularly his autistic younger brother. Despite having a scheduled asylum hearing, Alvarado was detained by ICE agents shortly before his court date, and he was later deported to El Salvador as part of a controversial U.S. deportation plan.
