Pedro Gual
Pedro Gual was a Venezuelan politician, diplomat, and close collaborator of Simón Bolívar. Born in the late 18th century, he served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Gran Colombia and was a key delegate at the Congress Anfictiónico held in Panama in 1826. Gual played a vital role in the Congress, which aimed to promote regional unity among the newly independent Latin American nations. After the Congress, he took on the responsibility of safeguarding the original minutes of the assembly, which he kept in his possession throughout his life. Following his death in Ecuador, these important historical documents passed down through his family, leading to a complex journey that spanned nearly two centuries before their recent return to Panama.
