Peter the Great, known as Petru cel Mare in Romanian, was the Tsar of Russia from 1682 until his death in 1725. He is credited with modernizing Russia and transforming it into a major European power. His reign included significant military reforms and the establishment of a navy, as well as efforts to expand Russian territory through wars, including the Great Northern War against Sweden.
