Rachel Notley is a Canadian politician and lawyer who has served as the leader of the Alberta New Democratic Party (NDP) and as the 17th Premier of Alberta from 2015 to 2019. Notley is known for her progressive policies and her focus on social justice, environmental sustainability, and economic diversification. Under her leadership, the NDP won a historic majority in the 2015 provincial election, ending nearly 44 years of Progressive Conservative rule in Alberta. She has been an outspoken critic of the current government, particularly in regard to issues of transparency and accountability.
