Ramón Isaza Arango
Ramón Isaza Arango, alias 'El Viejo', was a notorious Colombian paramilitary leader and co-founder of the Autodefensas Unidas de Colombia (AUC), a group formed to combat guerrilla movements in Colombia. As the head of the Autodefensas Campesinas del Magdalena Medio, he played a significant role in the violent conflict that plagued Colombia in the late 20th century. Isaza was known for his brutal tactics and extensive criminal activities, including drug trafficking and land control. Following a demobilization process in 2006, he was sentenced to an alternative prison term under the Justice and Peace Law, yet his legacy is marred by the violence and atrocities committed by his forces during the civil conflict.
