Robert Keegan (67) is an American historian and political scientist educated at Yale and Harvard. In the 1980s, he wrote speeches for George Shultz, Secretary of State under Ronald Reagan, and later served as an advisor to Republican presidential candidates. As a prominent figure in the neoconservative school of thought, he supported the intervention in Iraq but left the Republican Party in 2016 in protest against Donald Trump. Currently, he is a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution and is married to diplomat Viktoria Nuland, who served as acting Deputy Secretary of State in Joe Biden's administration.
