Santosh Devi

Santosh Devi is a 36-year-old woman from western India who has transformed her life and her community by learning solar engineering at Barefoot College. With her husband bedridden due to silicosis, she now supports her family by installing solar panels and lamps, providing much-needed electricity to homes in her village. Santosh, who is illiterate, hopes to use her earnings to secure a better future for her four children, demonstrating resilience and determination in the face of adversity.
