Sarojini Naidu was a prominent Indian independence leader, poet, and political activist, often referred to as the 'Nightingale of India' for her lyrical poetry. Born in 1879, she played a significant role in India's struggle for freedom from British rule, advocating for women's rights and social reforms. Naidu was a close associate of Mahatma Gandhi and served as one of his key advisors during the Round Table Conferences in London. She was also the first woman to become the governor of an Indian state, serving as the Governor of Uttar Pradesh from 1947 until her death in 1949.
